Addresses where the CD version is available can be found at: http://www.ecomstation.com/buy/ The eComStation Media Refresh is a refresh of the eComStation 1.2 media to resolve known issues and provide the latest codebase. This version does not contain new functionality. This release includes fixes to most of all reported problems, as well as some serious enhancements with regard to migration and installation. A semi-complete list is included below. == DISTRIBUTION / CREATING CDS == This product is provided as a downloadable ISO file, this is a raw CD image that you can burn on CD-R media. For instruction on burning the CD image to CD please consult the PDF document howtoburncds.pdf in the same directory. == TESTING THE DOWNLOADED FILE == You can verify the integrity of the download ISO file using this MD5 checksum: 933E-4135-2FF9-A3AA-E0BE-9169-882B-DB0D ecs12MR_cd1_en.iso On november 11, 2005 Serenity Systems International released the following ISO: BC5C-2FF7-0FB1-789E-2340-1405-C48F-9DF5 ecs12R_cd1_en.iso That has proven to have some problems. Please redownload the new ISO or check below how to update your ISO to the new version by using a small DIFF file. To generate the MD5 checksum of your downloaded file, please download from Hobbes: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/encrypt/md5suml.zip There is now an option during the boot of CD to verify the MD5 checksum of each file on CD. When you prefer a graphical frontend, that is provided by the SigmaMD5 tool, which can be started from the Maintenance Console. If these tests pass, you can be sure that the CD is exactly identical to what we have intended it to be. If it doesn't, this may mean your CD reader or download may casue some corruption, and a troublefree installation can not be guaranteed, and in fact it is rather useless to proceed. You may want to create the CD using another CD burning tool, or a lower burning speed, for example. == USING DIFF TO REDUCE DOWNLOAD SIZE == You can also download a so called DIFF file, from which you can create the new ISO. This requires you to already have a previous ISO file available. Two DIFF files are offered: 1) eCS 1.2 GA release: ecs12cd1.iso / 20-09-04 / 647.323.648 bytes -> MD5 1B9F-1515-5C9C-101F-0AFD-BDF1-148A-2DF1 ecs12cd1.iso 2) eCS 1.2 MR beta 4 (public beta): EN_US.ISO / 16-09-05 / 641.480.704 bytes -> MD5 BADF-CE7B-3A8F-C206-538C-2CA7-9CE2-7301 en_us.iso Please follow these steps: 1a) In case you have the GA release of eCS 1.2 available, please download: ecs12ga-ecs12mr.zip (54.613.765 bytes) 2a) Otherwise, if you have beta 4 available, please download: ecs12rbeta4_ecs12r.zip (24.001.716 bytes) and ecs12r-ecs12mr.zip ( 1.597.167) 2c) if you already downloaded eCS 1.2R EN dated nov. 11, 2005, please download: ecs12r-ecs12mr.zip ( 1.597.167) these files contain the DIFF file to create the eCS12MR_cd1_en.iso file. In order to create the full ISO out of the older files, issue the following command: (you can change the ISO names of course) 1b) gdiff -u ecs12cd1.iso ecs12_ecs12r.diff ecs12MR_cd1_en.iso or 2b) gdiff -u en_us.iso ecs12rbeta4_ecs12r.diff ecs12R_cd1_en.iso and then gdiff -u ecs12r_cd1_en.iso ecs12r-ecs12mr.diff ecs12MR_cd1_en.iso or 2c) gdiff -u ecs12r_cd1_en.iso ecs12r-ecs12mr.diff ecs12MR_cd1_en.iso GDiff is a tool of Daniel Hellerstein, more information can be found in gdiff.doc or on the following website: http://www.srehttp.org/apps/gdiff/ NOTE: Please verify the resulting ISO to have the correct MD5 sum, mentioned above. == GETTING SUPPORT == Support options for this product can be found at: http://www.ecomstation.com/support/ (c) 2005 Serenity Systems International
