Status update on eComStation 2.0 GA
December 31, 2009 by admin
Hello all,
despite earlier promises and despite the efforts of many we are unable to release the GA version of eComStation 2.0 in 2009.
However, we have made a lot of progress this year as can be judged by the well received Silver Release of eComStation.
Since eComStation 1.2R over 900 bugs have been resolved and a lot of new features have been introduced, the most important being the support for modern hardware with ACPI, multi-core CPUs and the Panorama video driver. Other new features include the Bootable JFS filesystem, a major overhaul of the preboot menu, Samba network support including a neat GUI and the list goes on.
Please be confident that we are very close to releasing the GA version of our beloved eComStation and our new years resolution is to make it available as soon as possible to those that have been patiently waiting all this time!
The code is very well advanced and we are currently working on the documentation as well as pricing for purchase and upgrade for those who did not take out a Software Support Subscription. We intend to have some attractive pricing for purchase of multiple copies, so as to help those of you that wish to run eCS 2.0 on multiple machines within your household.
If you want to keep an eye on the development progress, please have a look at our Twitter feed: http://twitter.com/eComStation/ which is automatically monitoring eWiki, CVS and bugtracker changes.
Thanks for your continued patience and wishing you all the best for 2010!
The eComStation Team at Mensys BV and Serenity Systems International.
