GBM.DLL 1.32 and new GBM file dialog released
January 05, 2006 by Heiko Nitzsche
A new release of the often used GBM library is available
on Hobbes in both, binaries and source.
It will later move to:
GBM (Generalised Bitmap Module) is a library for handling many different bitmap file formats. In this version, extended PNG, TIF and PPM support is additionally included.
Contains also an enhanced release of the GBMV2 Bitmap Viewer and the GBM file dialog (German/English). Both got new resources that better fit to the Warp 4 look & feel. Several extensions for keyboard shortcuts have been added.
Used libraries are at a recent code level (JPEG IJG library 6b, Libpng 1.2.8, Zlib 1.2.3 and Libtiff 3.7.4). Full source code is included in the src package.
Changes compared to release 1.31:
GBMDLG (GBM File Dialog)
* Redesign to match standard file dialog (eComStation)
* Add bitmap preview
* TIF support:
- Update to Libtiff 3.7.4
- Fix decoding of separated RGB tiffs
- Fix decoding of non-separated CMYK tiffs (8/16 bits per channel)
GBM command line tools
* gbmver.exe added
It shows the detected gbm.dll (including its path)
and the lib revision. I hope this simplifies solving
DLL version issues.
You can replace GBM.DLL and GBMDLG.DLL used by the usual apps
(Mesa, GBMV2, ...). The libs are fully backward compatible.
Don't replace the gbm.dll part of the Lotus Smartsuite
directory tree! This is a different lib.
As the new bitmap preview feature in the GBM file dialog requires quite a bit of processing power, users with less
good equipped hardware should stick with the previous dialog.
