March 10, 2006 by Heiko Nitzsche

GBM.DLL 1.35 and GBM command line tools
---------------------------------------
(Public Domain)

GBM (Generalised Bitmap Module) is a library for handling many different bitmap file formats. In this version, extended PNG, TIF and PPM support is additionally included. PNG and TIF supports also 32, 48, 64 bpp colour depths with/without alpha channel. PPM supports also 48 bpp colour depth.

Get package gbmos2_135_bin.zip from Hobbes.

Enhanced GBMV2 Version 1.22
---------------------------
(Public Domain)

GBMV2 is a fast and simple bitmap viewer and editor for the OS/2 Presentation Manager.

Enhanced release of the GBMV2-Viewer from the GBMOS2PM package:
* An English and a German version of GBMV2 is included.
* An English and a German version of the GBM file dialog is included.

GBMDLG.DLL has been extended by:
* Bitmap preview within the file dialog
* Redesign to fit eComStation file dialog style

Both parts got new resources that better fit to the Warp 4
and eComStation look & feel. The package comes with resources
for fonts 8.Helv and 9.WarpSans for both, German and English.
Several extensions for keyboard shortcuts have been added.

Get package gbmos2pm122_bin.zip from Hobbes.

The new homepage of GBM for OS/2 and eCS
----------------------------------------
I have set up a new home for GBM and GBMV2 on my homepage.
It's still work in progress...

http://heikon.home.tlink.de

It does/will provide:
- reworked documentation
- developer tutorials on how to use GBM libs in your own programs
- download of all sources and binaries

What's new
----------
- reading OS/2 bitmaps with RLE24 compression is now supported
- gbmhdr can now list details about all pages in multipage bitmap files for BMP, GIF, TIF, PPM, SPR.
- a WarpIN installation package for binaries is now available

For developers:
- GBMOS2 and GBMOS2PM has been ported to OpenWatcom 1.4,
-> binaries can now be build with both, IBM VAC++ 3.08 and OW 1.4
-> GBM.DLL and GBMDLG.DLL are binary backward compatible to existing applications.
- API enhancements and changes due to OpenWatcom support (see change log for details)

All binaries are now optimized for Pentium or compatible processors but they should run on earlier 32bit processors as well (untested).

Have fun,
