As the announcement of version 0.8.0 did not appear on most news services (probably a really evil conspiracy as they are en vogue at the moment), here is a bugfix release of PDFMerge/2, a freeware tool to manipulate PDF or PS files in the following ways:
- Concatenate multiple PDF files into a single one.
- Split PDF files into single pages.
- Rearrange these pages.
- Compose a new PDF file from single (or multiple) pages or PDF documents.
- Save sets of PDF files to disk and reload these sets into PDFMerge later for further processing.
- Preview pages while manipulating.
- Print multiple PDF files to a PS or PCL printer at once (experimental).
+Added: Toolbar with most often used functions
+Added: Menu: Copy filename to clipboard
+Added: Left clicking onto the preview of the selected file opens the file
*Changed: Made menu structure more CUA compliant
*Changed: Better thumbnail caching algorithm
!Fixed: Bug in D'n'D code
!Fixed: "Erase Source" could not handle tagged files
Fixed: "Erase Source" also deleted the enclosed Empty.PDF (for empty pages)
!Fixed: Files having spaces in their name or path could not be handled
!Fixed: If one toggled preview window before a file was loaded the empty preview window would appear.
Despite the version number below 1.0.0, this is only bugfix release to the final version of PDFMerge/2 0.8.0 as it turned out that the current architecture (especially the GUI) was a major obstacle for adding new features. A complete rewrite from scratch is in the works and all future
efforts will go into this new project (see a current screenshot on my website).
