WiseMachine presentation at WarpStock Europe

October 29, 2001 by Kim Cheung

WiseMachine presentation at WarpStock Europe To an end-user, the WiseMachine program is probably the most "mystical" program in eComStation. After all, we have an excellent installer WarpIN for newly developed packages, and each of the other applicationshas their own native installers. So, why would we need yet another "installer"? Besides, it doesn't work - many have claimed.

To a system administrator, WiseMachine is easily recognized as the answer to support a group of mobile or connected users and to perform various support oriented tasks such as application deployment, and configurations.

Come to this session to learn what WiseMachine is and what it's not.
See a live demo of how to make an application such as Object Desktop work on the system without running the native installer, and see that it works no matter which partition you booted from, or which machine you booted from. You will learn how to deal with many of the deadware, or abandonware in OS/2 which would have worked in eCS or newer versions of OS/2 "IF" you can get them installed.

Learn about the WiseApp program for creating Application Definition Package for an OS/2 app so others can import that into WiseMachine and make that app "WiseMachine Deployable".

Hear the future directions of WiseMachine and it's relationship to WiseManager - the bigger brother of WiseMachine.
