What IS eComStation?

What IS eComStation?

Here's where we stand. Everybody's been asking the question "What IS eComStation?". You will find a check list from below.

eCS is mostly releasible. I don't intend to wait until 100.0000000% of some of the missing issues listed below gets resolved until releasing it.

So far, some of the add-ons worked right away, a number of them required work to integrate and be debugged into the eCS installation process. It has burnt up one weeks worth of time (not that bad, I guess).

As you can see from below there has been an ENORMOUS amount of work that went into eCS. I hope you understand why we are in May for a GA release.

aaaaa.exe: Recognization program to hornor people that have worked on the eCS project (including the original IBMers that contributed to WSeB which made eCS possible).

Anti-virus package: (to be completed)

Appaulse: (to be completed)

Documentation: Preboot, Installation, WiseMachine, LVM, (WiseUpdate)

eCSCalc: Works 100%.

eCSClock: eCS Clock and Task Planner works. eCS Scheduler just pop up the Window List. Nothing else happens.

eCSConfigurator: A graphical CONFIG.SYS organizer. Was working perfectly. Broken right now. Shouldn't take long to fix.

eCSLVM: Didn't finish. Next release.

eCSDeskTop: A little Rexx program to easily custimize your desktop

eCSDialog Enhancer: A whole bunch of exes with resources replaced.
Can backout easily.

eCSGuide: Works great installing printer.

eCSICONs: the modified 3-D icons looks WONDERFUL! Still missing a few.

eCSInstaller: Works great. Gets done in less than 10 minutes - even on IDE machines. One known bug remaining.

(eCSConfigurator isn't working right - used to). I might suppress it for now. Veit's OS2CSM works great.

eCSSnooper: Didn't finish. Next release.

eCSStyler: Works 100% now.

eCSThemeMGR: Can not get it to work yet.

eCSZampa: Firewall configurator

Enhanced Editor: Works, and then doesn't work, and then work, and then doesn't work. Latest status is that it doesn't work. Pops up and shuts itself down right away.

Faxwork: (to be completed)

FlashPlayer: (to be completed)

InJoy: (to be completed)

LVM Patch: Daniela sent us the information needed to prevent W2K to cause trouble to LVM. Haven't put it in yet.

New kernels and JFS fixes: Included in fixpack directory of the CD.

RealPlayer and ODIN: (to be completed)

Scanner driver: (to be completed)

SIOLite: Straight forward integration.

Steller Frontier: (to be completed)

Video: We were unable to get Scitech DD to work right off the CD. It works as a subsequent install option. The screen resolution still isn't exactly the way we want to see but will have to make do (on some hardware, when you select 800x600x65536, it doesn't come out exactly that until you do a screen resolution selection and reboot the machine one more time - on some hardware, it works right off the CD).

WiseApp: undergoing testing

WiseMachine: still undergo testing.

WiseUpdate: works in the way I would expect. Not exactly 100% commercial quality but works for what it does.

Bonuspak: (undergoing testing)

DTOC 3.0, 4.0
halite (Mobile Office)
SmartSuite 1.6

FreeWare: (Association Editor) (Attribute Manager) (preboot config.sys selection)
INItools (Very nice inieditor)
NetsClock (Properly don't need this anymore)

ThirdParty: (demo package) (not downloaded yet).

Adopted packages:

(A whole bunch)
