Beta version of Samba client for eCS
March 17, 2004 by admin
Netlabs is proud to announce the first public beta version of SAMBA Client for OS/2 and eCS. It is available as a plugin for NetDrive Filesystem and it allows you to mount SMB or CIFS shares on OS/2 without the need of NetBIOS (IBM LAN Manager or IBM Peer).
Samba is freely available under the GNU General Public License. You can download the full OS/2 sourcecode including NetDrive plugin from our CVS respository.
Samba for OS/2 is made possible because netlabs.org hired the developer to port it. For us this is also an experiment and we really hope that the OS/2 and eCS community honors this effort. Please read our document about our open source philosophy and support us with sponsoring units if you can afford it.
We plan to provide a SAMBA Server for OS/2 and eCS as well but this highly depends on the support of the OS/2 and eCS community. We cannot afford that alone.

Please read the homepage for more details and for questions about support.
Enjoy!
