A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT ONE OF OUR CLASSES
If you are planning to take Doug Clark's 1-day class on Building Applications with VisualAge C++, please read carefully the following note from Doug. We want you to get everything you can from this class.
The class is oriented toward VAC version 4. However once you are inside the Visual Builder there isn't much difference between v 3 and v 4 - most of the differences between v 3 and v 4 are in 1) how the Visual Builder is started, 2) how the dialog boxes look, and 3) how you compile the code, i.e. rather you click on the BUILD button in v 4 or run make from a command prompt in version 3.
The class will be structured so that you can bring either compiler. We will be going through sections of the book "VisualAge for C++ Visual Programmer's Handbook" which is actually written for version 3. I will have hand outs, screen shots, and instructions for the sections of the book that we are covering where there are differences between v 3 and v 4. So students using v 4 MIGHT be able to get by without purchasing the book - although I HIGHLY recommend getting the book. (The book is available from IBM for approx $50, and apparently it is also available from Amazon as a used book for considerably less.)
While this is not a course on C++ programming, the first 1 to 1 1/2 hours will be spent on C++ basics - enough for a C programmer with minimal C++ experience to be functional in the Visual Builder. We will also use that first 1 to 1 1/2 hours to familarize students with how the v 4 IDE and compiler works.
RESERVE NOW! Warpstock 2004 has reserved a block of rooms at the Sheraton Denver Tech Center Hotel at $79 per night, until September 30th. After that date, you can expect to pay the regular rate of $179 per night, because the hotel expects to be fully booked during the Warpstock dates, October 21-24.
